"Our goal is to help orphans physically, mentally, and spiritually in the Mtakuja village of Tanzania, Africa, and surrounding villages, and to help others gain an awareness of these orphans, many resulting from the AIDS epidemic, and the resulting need of support for the orphans."
                                 - Taryn, Board Chairman

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the official website for the Tanzania Orphan Project!

Great news - we have an update! One of the families who volunteered at the orphanage last summer has accepted the call to go back and live at the orphanage, overseeing the orphans and the project there. They have three children of their own and are excited to come to Africa and share God's love. Their combined experiences include work in construction and as a Physician Assistant. We are thrilled with their soon arrival. Please join us in welcoming them by posting a blog for them to read. This is an answer to prayer because we are able to now move the orphans into the building.  We can help provide a safe home for them to live in as well as food and water every day and the good news of God's gift of salvation. Praise God for answering this prayer!

The orphanage is going to be dedicated in August of 2010 by Pastor David Dubuis. We praise God for His leading these last 5 years!

We need you! Are you willing to spend your time and money to help the people of Tanzania, Africa? We have 14 volunteers coming to work at the orphanage during this summer. The plans include construction and clean water projects, helping get the orphans moved into the orphanage, and community outreach efforts in the town of Mtkuja where the orphanage is located. We are also planning on leading an evangelistic series in two surrounding villages and conducting health education classes. We are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to come volunteer at the orphanage please contact us for further information.

The photo above is of one of our volunteers from last summer who was five years old, and Edward, one of our newest orphans. The volunteer wanted to give some of his clothes to someone who needed them. Edward was 11 years old in the photo and is an orphan living with HIV since his birth. From our experiences here in Tanzania, Africa, we can truly say that in this one area of the world, so little means so much. Thank you  so much for your support.
God Bless You!
